Mission

The Ed Darby Foundation believes every child deserves an equal opportunity to succeed. The Foundation funds educational, developmental and community programs that allow economically disadvantaged Tulsa students to fulfill their potential.

About Us

In 2013, Ed Darby started the Ed Darby Foundation to accomplish a simple mission; help Tulsa's economically disadvantaged youth succeed in the classroom and work their way out of poverty. Ed, the CEO of the Tulsa-based manufacturing company Darby Equipment, realized the inequality of education among Tulsa students barred some children from opportunities simply because of where they were born. Starting with a simple Ham Giveaway at local schools, Ed started making a difference in his surrounding communities and schools by helping any way he could.

The Ed Darby Foundation strives to carry on Ed’s legacy and vision of a more equitable Tulsa. The Foundation seeks to fund programs that enrich the whole child so that they may see their path forward. We at the Ed Darby Foundation are committed to continuing Ed’s mission with (hopefully) the same zeal, passion, and character that he brought to our community every single day.

Statement of Inclusion

Diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to the Ed Darby Foundation’s mission. It supports organizations that share those ideals and have practices and policies in place to ensure them.  We believe that healthy communities are possible when community members understand and appreciate differences including age, color, disability, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression.  By respecting all people, we strengthen ourselves and the communities we serve.

Ed Darby Foundation Goals

  • Improve the North Tulsa community and outcomes for North Tulsa youth.

  • Enrich the whole child with school programs, opportunities in the community, and quality curriculum with the purpose of showing them a path forward to reach their full potential.

  • Carry on the legacy of Ed Darby in a way that is sustainable through many generations by supporting efforts at partner schools in North Tulsa; supporting students in need using a personal touch; and showing generosity.

  • Inspire and encourage others to give to the community and support disadvantaged youth.

  • Maximize measurable outcomes.
